According to Ryan Nagata's Instagram page, the Apollo A7L suits were made by a company called Global Effects based in Los Angeles. Ryan made the “Snoopy caps” worn in the film as well as Armstrong's X-15 suit, the EVA gloves, Gemini harnesses, and a few other "odds and ends." He does some outstanding work!

Global Effects previously provided the Apollo spacesuits for HBO's "From the Earth to the Moon" and the 2005 IMAX film "Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon 3D," among a number of other film and television productions.

Wow, what a great poster! They are nailing the marketing of this film. I was afraid it was going to simply be a movie popular with space enthusiasts but it really seems like it will be a mainline hit!

So there IS a flag-raising scene in the film after all. Nine seconds into the first TV spot!

Hmmm. Good trailer, but I just noticed that in the sequence where he's punching out of the LLRV, he's wearing a 1980's MBU-12 oxygen mask. The helmet is much later than the 60s, as well (though I can't tell for sure as it goes by too fast, I think that helmet is even later than the mask).

An annotated script book will be available that will go through what is fact, what was changed, and why it was changed (there are all kinds of reasons). I think readers will pretty impressed with just how much effort they put in to getting the details correct.

Does anybody know if some astronaut served as technical advisor or consultant for the movie?

I believe Al Worden served as a technical consultant on the film.

Yes, Al Worden was on set, as was Joe Engle.
Other technical consultants included Christian Gelzer, chief historian at Armstrong Flight Research Center; Frank Hughes, NASA's former chief of spaceflight training; former suit techs Al Rochford and Ron Woods; Rick Houston, author of "Go Flight!"; and of course, James Hansen.

"First Man" has been screened aboard the International Space Station. From Expedition 56 commander Drew Feustel on Twitter:
The Expedition 56 crew played music together as a warm up to watching the film "First Man" for Saturday Movie Night on the space station. Our thanks to the Armstrong family, Universal Pictures and NASA for working to get the film to low Earth orbit and allowing us a preview in space.
Tonight (Sept. 24), the film will be screened in Houston for the members of the astronaut corps not in space, as well as flight directors and managers at Johnson Space Center.

I am very fortunate to have just seen the UK premiere. It's an intense and intelligent film from start to finish, all two hours and twenty one minutes of it.
Ryan Gosling does a great job in portraying Neil as quiet, driven and competent.
This film redefines those qualities that makes a true hero.
The Gemini 8 scenes are powerful and tell it how it was. Great to see that program — so key to the future success of Apollo — receive sufficient screen time.
More time would have allowed other facets of Armstrong's career to have been shown but there is a practical limit to just how long a film can be and hold the audience.
The relationship between Neil and his wife Janet and family feels very real and is carefully woven throughout the film.
Overall a great job and I won't hesitate to see it again. It knocks "Apollo 13" off the top spot on my space film list.
The final scene will I think, prompt some discussion here on collectSPACE.

We're going to abide by a rule that spoilers cannot be discussed until the movie opens on Oct. 12 (and then with a spoiler warning).
(The final scene in question is the focus of a planned cS article to be timed with the film's debut.)

Okay, okay l, I surrender — I'll go see it opening weekend!
I'll have to drive 100 miles to attend the Space Hipster get-together for an IMAX screening in Raleigh NC, but it'll be worth it.

I signed up for an October 1 viewing. It says, "Your reservation has been confirmed!" But at the bottom it says, "Space is not guaranteed, is limited to event capacity and is first-come, first served." It doesn't sound like a real reservation to me. Not sure what to expect.

I noticed the sleeves of the lunar surface spacesuits in these clips have what looks to be a joint in the upper arm. Now I cant un-see it.

As I had feared, my "reservation" was not what it seemed. The theater in Columbus, Ohio had filled one hour before the 7:30 start. When I arrived at about 7:05 I was too late to get in, along with about 10 other people.
Looking forward to October 12.
