I'm going to start up a space enthusiasts club in the high school I teach at. Any suggestions for a name?

Thanks for the ideas so far. I guess I will put them to a vote after our first meeting. I teach at Cathedral Prep.

You're lucky, my high school didn't have enough students interested in spaceflight to start a club.

I don't know about the name, but your slogan could be; "Prepare for your final destination - join the space enthusiasts club today."

How about: Rocket Team or Space Team. Simple, I know, but to the point.

Cathedral Missal Club, that's funny! I like the suggestions. When students are exposed to space exploration, for the most part, they like it. One kid asked me if I saw Apollo 18 yet. I will keep everyone posted as to our activities and our group name. Thanks again!

Well, you could call it the "Heavens Above" club if you want to pull the ole bait and switch with those who might attend, thinking its a religious retreat group.

Maybe coming up woth some kind of NASA style acronym might be neat as well.

Cathedral Air and Space Association, or CASA for short. With an adapted NASA logo for your t-shirts, perhaps in school colors!

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this post. We met recently and I put out all the suggestions everyone gave for a club name — C.A.S.A. won! Thanks for Historian Mom and everyone else for your interest!

C.A.S.A. is great. Thanks Mom! I don't know if NASA allows copying like this, but here's a start for a logo.

Glad to have helped! Good luck with the club. My son is in an Aviation Club at his school, with a little space on the side. They recently had Linda Godwin come talk to the club, and next week's presentation is on careers in aviation. He really enjoys it. I was just out at the Kansas Cosmosphere getting their club sponsor his Christmas present -- a copy of Falling to Earth, signed by Colonel Worden and Francis French. Hope you get appreciated properly as well!

May I suggest that "Apollo 18" should be on the activity list of any Space Club? One can chose to do this early in the year, as a starting point to take the members' hands into historical facts. Or one can go around it the other way, saving it for after the kids have acquired a taste for the history of astronautics.

I preferred to start things up with the movie.
