Glad the HQ made it through. The pictures from the Lone Star Flight Museum are heartbreaking, though. Any reports on what space artifacts were lost?Watch out for those good ol' boys and their loose interpretation of traffic laws. |

I spent some time today driving around town but most of the areas I had planned to see were unavailable: - Space Center Houston remains closed. Their website says they sustained "minor damage" and will be reopening on Tuesday.
- Johnson Space Center does not reopen until Monday and with Space Center Houston closed as well, the rocket park and Saturn V building are still closed to visitors.
- Apollo Boilerplate-1224 at the Harris County Youth Center was inaccessible. The roads leading to it have heavy tree damage and Clear Lake Park, from where it usually can be seen from a distance, is currently a FEMA distribution station.
I drove out to Ellington Field and could see the hangar damage from a distance but guards were in place to prevent a closer view. (NASA's KC-135 "Weightless Wonder" appeared to be undamaged.)The Outpost, the storied astronaut hangout and bar, not only survived but has already re-opened for business. The twin T-38 astronaut training jets on NASA Road 1 appear unscathed, though they were tethered to the ground for the storm: Just down the road from the T-38s, the McDonald's didn't fare as well, although its unique astronaut statue survived:

NASA's Mission Control at Johnson Space Center sustained roof damage from high winds during Hurricane Ike, the space agency said. In addition to the Mission Control damage, NASA said, Ike caused roof damage to a hangar at Ellington Field that houses NASA aircraft. |

Robert I'm happy knowing you are safe and back at home. I leave Miami to Spain on Tue 9/9 when Ike was closer to us and I was praying since then for all of you in the Houston area.My best regards to you and all the CS members who had endured Ike. |

Was wondering how did the Outpost Tavern get over the hurricane? Have you had a chance to visit there Robert? |

Yes, as I mentioned earlier in the thread, they had re-opened for business by the time I returned to Houston. |
