I can't believe I haven't heard of this until today, but there is a completely FREE and very good space launch, flight, probe, etc simulator called Orbiter:
http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/orbit.html

Click on "download" on the left menu. Included are directions for downloading and adding the (also free) high resolution features and updates.

Here is a movie simulation that was created with it, and this was done without the new high res add-ons (I believe the audio was added by some other means):

I messed around with Orbiter for about an hour and I don't think I've even had a taste of what 1% of it can do. There are even scenarios where you can take a tour of the Solar System.

Check it out. Has anyone heard of this program?

I'm using it since 2001, there's quite a lot of user forums and blogs about it etc. It's nice, I remember my first Shuttle sim on my Mac Plus, around 1989, but my dream is a Saturn V sim...
