A friend of mine has a 12-year-old nephew with a developing interest in space that my friend is trying to develop. As part of my advice to him, I was hoping cS members could make some recommendations about good space gifts for his nephew (I'm also securing some "official NASA" stickers, lithos, etc. for him and giving him advice on seeking autographs). Here are some thoughts I had. Any additional ideas would be appreciated. I was trying to cover a variety of price ranges without going too high. The video "The Dream Is Alive" is a fabulous look at flying on the shuttle. |

I'd recommend a copy of either Bill Pogue's "Space Trivia" or the "Space Shuttle Operator's Manual"... Both are written for audiences of any age.Or one of the TM-8 keychains from Everquest... The best $15 I have spent! It's flown, and I get to see (and use) it every day! |

Get him the movie "Space Camp" from 1986. Definitely far fetched, but the kid will love it... |

Caution though, as this can lead to larger investments. It was because of this movie that I begged my parents to send me to Space Camp and ultimately attended Alabama and Florida programs over 8 consecutive summers... |
