My Odessey pub eZine today had the following article that I thought all would find of interest, if you haven't already seen it. Now if they would only crack down on the the Astro forgers!FBI HITS CYBERSPACE IN SEARCH OF BOGUS AUTOGRAPH DEALERS!
The FBI has taken its investigation of bogus autographs to a world
of logons and passwords -- the Internet. It has charged six people
with selling forged autographs of sports figures and entertainers
on the web.
The FBI's Tim Fitzsimmons of San Diego, agent in charge of
Operation Bullpen, said the street value of items sold by these
dealers exceeds $1 million, and the inventory of items seized
during the past two months by federal agents fills a couple a
hundred square feet of warehouse space. Fitzsimmons told Sweet
Spot that signatures of more than 100 athletes and 1,000 Hollywood
celebrity were forged. The most-forged athlete was Muhammed Ali.
Other prominent athletes forged were Mark McGwire, Ken Griffey,
Jr., Sammy Sosa, Alex Rodriguez, Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk and
Vince Carter.
Here is the website of operation bullpen. There is some great advice here, and other information on their crackdown: http://sandiego.fbi.gov/bullpen/bullpen.htm
