I certainly intend to, but, as usual, my plans are last minute and there is no room in the inn. I intend to stay at the Naval Air Station in Fallon and drive in each day. I have no idea how the Astros work the auto thing at an event like this. Can anyone enlighten me as to schedule, fees, etc? Can you bring your own pics, etc?

Dont like the hat I normaally wear? A beanie with a propeller? <LOL> As these guys will be guests of the airshow, there wont be fees and access per se to them. We've researched and researched as to where they will be to no avail.When I was there in 1999, they were invisible during the races......but they hosted a banquet Saturday night honoring these guys, and it was a wonderful time and signing was freely done.......heck I even got Bill Anders on 1 item.....but it was a struggle getting him..... Im going as are a few from the Astronaut list.....Ive heard horror stories about rooms there....im at the Reno Hilton but I book it a long time ago.... Best, Al |

I just ordered my plane tickets today. I'll be there from friday evening to monday morning.
I like to travel as cheap as possible, so I'll be staying in the Motel 6 near the Reno airport for about $46 a night!
Now I just need my tickets for the show and I'll be all set to go.I'm not sure how the astronaut thing works out, but would be very interested if anyone knows any details about that. Tom |

I was wondering if anyone else in this group was going to the Air Races? It would be fun to meet up with some of you there and meet you in person. We could go have lunch together or something....Mmmmmm....greasy airshow burger!  I have never been to one of these events where there will be so many astronauts gathering in one place. Does anyone know how this works? Do they sign stuff or just pay for an expensive dinner to meet them or what? Tom |
