Which person was responsible for controlling the camera from Apollo 15 to 17.

And which console had the necessary controls for the job?

Does anybody have photos of this console?

There is at least one photograph (from Apollo 15) showing Ed Fendell at the console controlling the movement of the rover-mounted TV camera. There is a TV monitor to his left showing the live picture. I don't have a serial number for the picture but it should be easily traceable.

(NB: Simply google "Ed Fendell" and you find the photograph, and others.)

Fendell did an amazing job under the circumstances. He had a 1.3 second delay on the downlink and another 1.3 second delay for his push button reactions to reach the rover. He deserved the Emmy Award he received for his efforts.

I seem to remember a documentary that spent some time covering the topic of the Apollo 17 lunar liftoff film. It may be the "Last Man on The Moon" documentary. I don't have available time to watch it now to confirm, somebody here may be able to remember.

Two INCO "Captain Videos": Ed Fendell and Gran Pennington in Building 30 during Apollo 15.

Another shot of Fendell:

For the record, the bottom of the three pictures is the one to which I was referring. It appears in my Apollo 15 scrapbook (compiled long before Apollo 16).

All times are CT (US)
