Does anyone here have some kind of picture with a cross-section of the Apollo ship? I really cannot imagine how much space there was for three astronauts. All we see in movies are three seats. Thanks to all for your replies. |

Google image searches will bring up results for the Command Module or Lunar Module or both. Click here for a Google image search for "Apollo CM".Here are a few items to get you started but none of these adequately show the lower equipment bay which was said to add much useful room inside the spacecraft. |

There are two CM interior diagrams on this NASA webpage. |

The Apollo Command Module News Reference contains numerous diagrams of the interior of the CM (in particular, Chapter 6 "Command Module Overview" and Chapter 9 "Crew Accommodations"). |

Are there any museum exhibits that show an Apollo command module mock-up in cross-section? One can only get a very limited perspective peering through the windows from the outside. Any exhibits, real or mock-up, that at least let visitors poke their heads inside? |

This is an Apollo Command Module cutaway exhibit concept that I have proposed that would give visitors a better idea of the interior space of the Command Module. (I think it would work even better if the Lower Equipment Bay area is filled in, and the rest of it is a cross section as shown.)------------------ John Fongheiser Historic Space Systems |
