I'm looking for pictures of the interior layout of the early Apollo CM. In particular, those during about 1961 through 1963. I'd seen some as illustrated in the world book in that period. They showed seating, etc. quite different than that which was finally settled on. |

Yes, you have it right, it was quite different. There exists a set of pictures with interesting mock up space suit, but I have seen only in very lower resolution. One is here. |

The following are a few from the period. They show the periscopes protruding since the landing would have been while on their backs using the CM, SM and large landing stage. |

That is exactly the period I'm looking for. Essentially during the period from the first designs on paper till the Earth Orbit Rendezvous and Direct modes were dropped. |

The bottom photo looks like something from "Forbidden Planet." |

This is an awesome interior picture I just found of the early CM when it was expected to be part of the direct mode.If you look at the previous photos I posted the three guys sitting in the seats one in a space suit ,not to mention the wooden mockup in the factory appear to be the same one. There are a whole series of these I'd still like to find. One has a suited astronaut emerging from the CM apex and one showing an astronaut standing looking out of one window using a telescope. |

Art- A lot of these photos originally appeared in Life magazine and they are stored in the Getty archives in London. |
