Tomorrow (Oct. 7) I am meeting someone to check out a Franklin Mint Apollo lunar lander. Does it look like anything is missing - what would be a fair price?

The EVA antenna is missing, missing parts are a big price reduction. The S-Band steerable antenna is broken off and is sitting on the top back of the assent stage. Not good that it is broken off, but good you still have it. Base looks like it has some scuffs, and it is a little dirty but cleanable. I own five of these and one was bought new in 1999 when they came out ($200 new). Four of them came is various condition and price points. My opinion a sale outside eBay or auction house means more money in the seller's pocket so $250 to $300 max. That is my opinion, and it is worth what you paid me for it. |

Yesterday I picked up the Franklin Lunar Lander which I had found on Facebook Marketplace. The images that were posted online were not of the one he was selling - fortunately the one he had was in better shape since S-Band steerable antenna was actually not broken off. Unfortunately the Rendezvous and EVA antenna are both broken as shown in photos. What is the best way to reattach rendezvous antenna - "Crazy Glue"? Does someone sell replacement parts such as the EVA antenna? Are there any other missing parts? The bottom of descent engine skirt is badly scuffed and there are numerous scrapes and scratches on the base. Should I try to touch these up with paint? If so, any recommendations on specific brand and color to use? I paid $200 based upon advice received here and condition of what was being offered. Hopefully I did OK. I am very grateful to this community for all the help and advice - you are an awesome group of people! — Mike

With the one missing part and still having the dish to reattached I think you did god. The rest of it looks all there and good. As far as I know there are no after market parts out there. I have used the Revel/Monogram kits for parts to "repair" the model. |
