Can anybody tell me anything about this Apollo 11 lucite? Is it legit? It is claimed to have a good COA signed by a prominent and well liked expert. It looks similar to others I’ve seen but I'm not sure.

The COA on the last photo is signed by Ken Havekotte, and it doesn't get more trustworthy than that. So if the Kapton came from that piece, then it's legitimate. However, it's not difficult to find scans of these types of COAs online. Auction houses will often include high-resolution scans of these presentations for their listings. And then anyone can print it out and sell it with something like this. The Havekotte COA is definitely a good sign. But you also need to consider the reputation of the seller who created lucites which claim to be from the same source. |

Thank you fellow collector. I was thinking just that. I have been unable to find anything online to match it. Even past auction searches. It is a similar style to some of the others but no exact matches, usually something like this gets made in a run of multiples, so there should be more than one out there. I thought somebody might have one in their collection and could share some information on it. |

The COA is an older version of mine for a flown/used Apollo 11 Kapton insulation tape, however, I am unable to verify that the Kapton used in the referred to lucite(s) is of my own supplied Kapton from CM-107 attached to the actual certificate itself. There had been a couple of past incidents whereas a couple of older certificates like this had been used to verify flown Kapton tape that I never did have nor own. It might help to also see if the signature on the original COA is indeed hand-signed (authentic) and not a print or reproduction that I would never under any circumstances authorize. In addition, on a personal note, it would help to know the name or firm of the lucite producer as I did keep records of such transactions involving flown CM-Kapton of man's first lunar landing mission. |

Ken I was unable to find any more on the lucite shown above but I did find the name of a firm that produces lucites using a copy of your COA indicating the original source of the artefact/relic. He signs on/over your your COA and offers a smaller COA of his own. I actually have an example in my own collection, purchased from Heritage two years ago, an Apollo 13 flown parachute material lucite with your COA (a copy) and his smaller certificate both signed by him. His name is J.G. Czubinski. See photos below, the other photos are other examples I found from this guy in HA past sales. Is this guy a legitimate trader? Has anybody had deals with him? There are many lucites with his name on them out there, some fetching high prices. The lucites appear to be good quality with beveled edges.

I had dealings with Jerry about 12 years ago and from memory found him to be straight up guy to deal with. I have three of his Apollo pieces all three of which came with illustrated COAs.I collaborated with Jerry on the designs for all three, and I seem to recall the Apollo 8 and Apollo 11 Kapton came from Ken. I have no doubts or concerns about any of them, not least because I supplied the hatch material for the Apollo 17 piece. Jerry I think is active on Facebook. |

I too have had numerous dealings with Jerry and have always found him to be honest and easy to deal with. I am confident in the authenticity of the pieces I have purchased from him over the years. |
