I'm fairly sure this Apollo 8 crew signed cover is a little bit too atypical, curious as to your thoughts! There's no loop on the "d" in Anders but the Bill looks like it's possible. Is this a forgery added to a good Borman? I'm not sure about the Lovell either! |

If I had to bet I'd say the signatures are authentic, but the Anders is certainly not his "typical" one. Other traits you'd expect in his, and Lovell's, signatures are there though, in my opinion. |

That has been sitting there for a $400 Buy It Now for almost a week. There are dozens of knowledgeable collectors and dealers that would have hit that in about 2 minutes if they thought it was good. |

Here's a hint... look at the pressure, slant and ending stroke of Lovell and Anders.(Not to mention the areas where it looks like the pen stopped and restarted and fixed up in both.) |

I'm not involved in any way with the offering of this cover, I'm not bidding on it and if asked to authenticate it I wouldn't, all because off all its obvious "issues" (especially the Anders). That being said however, that doesn't necessarily mean I think the signatures aren't or couldn't be good.I recall a good few years ago there was quite a controversy around an Armstrong signed table (yes, table!) that most (including me) thought couldn't possibly be real because the signature was so atypical... until pictures of Armstrong actually signing the table surfaced (pardon the pun). I'm well aware that the signatures here are certainly "off," and I certainly don't take issue with Steve's assessment, but given Anders' penchant for signing some things deliberately unusually (to give collectors his autograph without necessarily adding value), I have to think this cover shouldn't be so easily dismissed as an obvious fake, even though there are certainly very good reasons to not want to purchase it. |

I love a good debate! I was very much on the fence about it but I was thinking of risking a low bid – the nail in the coffin for me was that the seller wouldn't accept any questions about the cover, they had opted out of all contact from prospective buyers and didn't offer returns! Alarm bells rang out! |
