Your thoughts on this Neil Armstrong signature from back in 1999. Comes with COA from Vince Cutler Rarities Inc. (AutographStore.com).

Thanks for your assistance.

I am sure this topic has surfaced previously and it was generally accepted that this signature is counterfeit. If I am not mistaken Armstrong himself commented (when shown the same or a similar piece) that to the best of his knowledge and recollection he never signed such an image.

What is more, by 1999 Neil signed very few items even for friends, politicians or former colleagues.

As of 2000, Armstrong said that he recalled signing only two copies of this photo and the location of both were known (at the time). The initial agreement with the photographer, Mark Tuttle, is that he would sign none.
Tuttle went on to say that Armstrong and he initially had an agreement that Armstrong would never sign a print of the photograph. Since then, Armstrong recalls signing only two. They both believe that any signed copy should be carefully considered, as most are forgeries.
Regardless the history of this photograph, the autograph itself does not appear to be authentic.

Thank you Robert for the reassurance that I have not lost all of my marbles... though one or two may have escaped over time.

I knew there were issues surrounding this piece and I'm just grateful that you have set me straight.
