Would anyone mind offering an opinion as to whether these signatures are authentic on these Apollo 10 and STS-1 crew signed items?

Really appreciate your time and the wealth of knowledge on this site!

Both look good, assuming they are not facsimile covers.

Can't remember the last time I saw an authentic John Young signature where the loop of the J was — by far — the smallest of the three down loops.

Thank you both for your replies.

I thought that it looked unusual myself, but then again my expertise in that area is far too limited for any conclusions!

Do you think they both look suspect Steve, or just the Apollo 10 Young signature?

I can tell you at least that the Apollo 10 Orbit cover is what is known as a "Plugged 9" variety. It is named so because the circle of the 9 in the zip code is filled in. It is "plugged" with ink.

Plugged 9 cancels on Orbit covers have been considered suspect for many years. That said, many plugged 9 covers contain authentic signatures as only the cancels are considered suspect.

The Apollo 10 cover sold for $650 and the STS-1 sold for $280.

In my opinion always tread carefully with this seller.

I have bought a few items from them in the past, albeit nothing particularly extraordinary. Would you say they knowingly sell inauthentic items?

Although not an expert on autographs they have sold items that i found questionable. Enough so I avoid there auctions all together.
