I wanted to give a heads up on this before it goes away. I hope someone rescues it. I manage a recycling center in Mims, Florida just 30 minutes outside of NASA. Various contractors from NASA, SpaceX, and Blue Origin bring me various peculiar items regarding space exploration. This, however, is the most amazing thing I have received thus far. It is a 15 foot tall completely intact room that was designed to be attached to the bay arm that swung out and attached to the space shuttle. This is the room designed by NASA, that the astronauts made their final preparations before entering the shuttle to go into space. When I spoke with one of the senior contractors who had helped build the room, he told me that it was intended to be used for a space mission. |

I have tried contacting the seller twice through eBay but have yet to receive a reply. I am fairly certain this is not from the space shuttle program. This is (in part) what I wrote: Based on your photos, it appears to be a white room developed by United Launch Alliance (ULA) for use with Boeing's CST-100 Starliner spacecraft on Space Launch Complex 41 at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station but was replaced in May due to design changes. The SLC-41 white room replacement is discussed in the second half of this article. | |
