I am not sure what is more disturbing, this painting, the thought of who would find this worth purchasing, or the full description tab that describes this painting as a male nude. It takes all sorts of folk to make a world. |

I wonder if this is like the Disney ride "The Haunted Mansion"? Where the initial look at the painting the people seem normal but as the paintings "stretch" you see some bizarre stuff? Makes you wonder if this is the whole painting or if Neil is painted with red and white boxers standing on the shoulders of someone who is sitting on a powder keg on a tree branch... |

During Apollo 11, the Russian newspaper Pravda referred to Neil as "the czar of the ship." |

I think what I find most bizarre about this is that it's actually quite well done. Weird. |

This is the work of Steve Payne, a UK digital artist, who goes by the screen name/brand "ReplaceFace" online. George Dawe was an English portrait artist who painted 329 portraits of Russian generals active during Napoleon's invasion of Russia for the Military Gallery of the Winter Palace, Saint Petersburg, Russia. I'm using digital copies of these paintings as a basis for my own work which involves incorporating celebrities into the paintings using photoshop. |

So is this a hand painted in oil painting or a Photoshop digital image? |

The eBay listing has no connection to the artist and is a fraud. If you want a print or other product featuring Payne's art, follow the links from his website. |

Ha, I was thinking that perhaps this is the "Soviets" way of coping with losing the race to the moon!OK, you lose the race to the moon so take the American who was first to set foot and make him a Russian general. A somewhat strange pathology, indeed. [Grin] |

"That's one small neck for a man, one giant neck for a Russian General"? [catcalls] |
