I recently came across and Apollo 13 command module contingency checklist. It has been well used and still has the Velcro on the cardboard back page. I have not seen one before and most of the checklist in auction archives are flown or sold as single pages. Even so I do not find any Apollo 13 short of James Lovell's flown example. Please look at the pictures and give me any feedback.

Don't believe this variant saw application during the actual mission. |

Could you give a bit more information please? All I know for sure is it is well work from use. I would assume training. |

I am seeking the knowledge of the cS community. This one has me stumped. The checklist is part of the collection of the U.S. Space Walk of Fame Museum. After much research it would seem to be a fabrication as it has an Apollo 17 checklist part number on the front, a 1001 flown serial number and is dated only 19 days before the Apollo 13 flight. This checklist is made of the same fireproof paper used in all Apollo flown checklists, is of the correct size, type set, and sectioning of similar checklists it is is well worn from use and has the three Velcro tabs on the back for attachment. The thick cardboard backing has been worn through from use. I cannot find any reference to a CM contingency checklist on any Apollo stowage lists and this checklist has to have a story and I would love to find it. If you have any ideas please post what you think of this very unusual item. |

I don't think a contingency checklist as this was primary used during an actual flight, therefore, was not onboard a flown Apollo CM spacecraft. Let me take a look at it for a closer examination during a future visit to the SWOF museum. |

Thank you Ken, I sent an e-mail to Fred Haise and to Jack Lousma to see if they remember ever having seen this type of checklist in training. Fred has already sent a reply that he does not. He suggests I ask Jim Lovell. As I do not know Jim Lovell well enough to ask I requested Fred forward my e-mail to him. I will let you know if I hear anything. |
