I have an artist rendering titled "Eris First Flight." The artist is Park Merrill. It was framed in Huntsville, Al. around 1992. I am interested in the history of the rendering, how much it may be worth and anything you could tell me about the artist. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I live outside of Huntsville, Al. |

I'm not familiar with the artist or painting, but according to the online description for the book , "Flights of Fancy and Other Works of Art by Park Merrill," Merrill was an art director at Lockheed Missiles and Space Company, Inc., in Sunnyvale, Calif. It might be worthwhile ordering or seeking from your local library a copy of the book to see if the rendering is included. As for Eris, or ERIS — Exoatmospheric Reentry-vehicle Interception System, it was developed by Lockheed as part of the ground-based interceptor portion of the Strategic Defense Initiative, colloquially referred to as the "Star Wars" program. | |
