I have this Jim Irwin and I can't tell if it's real. I'd like it someone could help me out.

The card that it came out on wasn't given to the astronauts until 1991, so I know it's unlikely but I was wondering what people thought about the signature.

Three other astronaut cards that were signed by John Young, Charlie Duke, and Edgar Mitchell were being sold by the same person. The person was also selling a lot of autographs, including tv stars, actresses, pro golfers, and baseball players.

Any help is appreciated. Also, any idea of its value?

I think I remember those cards on eBay. He had five or six on at once. My advice would be run away!!! Or since you already own it - throw it away!!!

It doesn't look good to me. I've seen an authentic Irwin SpaceShots card before but I don't think that's it. I think this was sold by the same guy who keeps selling Irwin signed items that are suspicious to say the least.

Space Shots cards are "usually" signed on the front.

Does the signature look okay?

Is this the same guy that emailed me beforehand about the Irwin signed card? Once again, based on my opinion, I am not comfortable with it for the reasons mentioned in a prior email to you.

Before Irwin's death on Aug. 8, 1991, only a few of the Moon Mars series of cards were able to be hand-signed by the Apollo 15 LMP. Why? Because the new 36-special edition card series was first released in the summer of the same year Irwin had passed away (I think in July 1991).

I was able to have him autograph a few "early release" cards for me and his signature on them is nothing compared to the one featured on this topic.

Thanks a lot for your reply Ken, I really look at your expertise at this very highly. I was wondering if it would be possible for you to post one of your cards that Jim Irwin signed on here, and then I could compare the two. I know you are busy, so if you don't have the time I understand, and I really appreciate your advice so far. Thanks.

The same guy who was selling this card was also selling SpaceShots signed on the back by John Young and a few others. They're not authentic (in my opinion). There's no way around it. It's just a very cheap item to try and forge on — much like an index card.

Well, I found out that whoever sold me the card must have been selling a lot of fakes, because the eBay resolution guy said their eBay account has been disabled. I talked to the eBay guy about trying to get my money back but he said because it has been over 45 days eBay can't do anything about it, but my credit card provider might. If anyone has any advice on how to get my money back, please let me know.
