This item includes a collectSPACE letter of authenticity which appears to be signed by Robert Pearlman.
Authentic? Just curious ... never seen one before.

Yes, this letter was issued by collectSPACE (and signed by myself) but it is a letter of provenance, not authenticity. The letter only documents the chain of ownership up until it was sold through buySPACE in 2005.
It does not assert whether the hatch plugs are authentic or flown on the mission specified. That said, given who the original owner was, I had no reason to doubt it was as described.

As Pearlman's autograph is so desirable and rare couldn't help myself (the stuff that accompanied his signed letter was icing on the cake!)
The ablator plugs are the first I have encountered bearing RTV sealant imprinted with the torque-set screw heads that were used to retain the heat-shield assembly (evident in the second image when clicked on).

Was that a flown Hershey Bar?

A "field expedient" being employed as a scale since I neglected to pack a ruler (currently on travel to the D.C. area).

I'll trade you two graham crackers and a marshmallow for those charred things or that drawer pull. I'll even toss in a genuine Ace Hardware tape measure
