Found this at an estate sale here in Texas along with a few other pieces. Can anyone tell me approximately what it is worth?

Desk model arch is solid aluminum and spacecraft is solid aluminum, base is wood and looks like it had a name plate of some kind on it (now gone, no telling what was on it). Any info would be appreciated.

Reason for asking: I would like to sell on eBay.

The shape is a bit odd but I assume it's supposed to be the forward section of a Gemini capsule. Would make a nice base to mount some kind of flown fragment on.

In terms of value I'd say just put it on eBay and let it float. There's not much point putting a high start value or reserve on it as it will find it's real level in open bidding.

The "arch" is of the St. Louis Arch -- I have one of the flown ID plate presentations from a Gemini mission in my collection. They have a similar dark wood base, and metal arch to symbolize the McDonnell Corp headquartered there. The flown ID plate presentations have a wooden Gemini capsule, with the ID plate on the wood of the base, with a small ID plastic plaque on the base, just under the plate. Very attractive. While this is clearly not one of the flown ID plate presentations, it is none the less attractive. I think you might do better than ebay by putting it up at Astro Auction. You'll get a targeted class of serious collector, and pay no fees to sell.

To see one of the Gemini flown ID plate presentations, go to Chris Spain's site. He has a picture of one from the Collins collection.

Astro-Auction is a free listing site for space collectibles.

My reference site for some types of Space Flown Collectibles covers flown spacecraft id plates. You can see examples of Gemini presentations here and here.

Remember that these items sold for thousands of dollars because of the flown plaques mounted on them. We're only referring to them to show that they use a somewhat similar-looking plaque, arch and spacecraft model.
