I am looking to establish the pedigree and a value (for insurance purposes)... and get any other information I can on two signed Mercury project prints I have recently acquired and love.

Print 1

Is entitled "Mercury and Beyond" it is by the artist Patrick Eby and dated 1998. My copy is signed by 5 of the Mercury Astronauts: Alan Shepard, John Glenn, Wally Schirra, Scott Carpenter and Gordon Cooper as well as the artist himself in pencil. The print is no 9 of 450.

I have looked on the internet to try to find more information and emailed Mr Eby from his website but have had no reply.

Print 2

Has a headline "United States Manned Spaceflight 30th Anniversary". It is by the artist Robert Hunt; printed by Klay Printing, Tampa Florida; and copyright May 1991 produced by the Mercury Seven Foundation.

The print depicts a Mercury capsule returning to Earth from orbit watched by the ghostly figures of the seven astronauts. It is signed by 6 astronauts: Alan Shepard, John Glenn, Wally Schirra, Scott Carpenter, Gordon Cooper and Deke Slayton.

I have tried to find more information on the web using the above information but have had no luck. I have emailed Mr Hunt (though not absolutely sure it's the right artist), from his website but have had no reply.

I would be very grateful for any help colleagues can give me.

Kindest regards,
Stuart

I can't say for sure because I haven't seen the Pat Eby print for sale in a while but the last one I saw in the gift shop at Kennedy Space Center out by the original Mercury launch site. If I recall correctly they were asking something like $1250 for the print and it was only signed by 4 of the astronauts. I personally paid $800 for my copy signed by 5 astronauts about two years ago. As far as the other one I've never seen it but it sounds like a nice piece. I would love to see a picture of it and hear an update with whatever you find out. You're sure its not the George Bishop print of the Mercury 7 astronauts?

All times are CT (US)
