From the photos it looks good but the hand written 'display' labeling inside the back of the helmet suggests that it may be what the Smithsonian refer to as an anthropomorphic suit. Made by Goodrich for display purposes they lack the inner pressure layer. There are plenty of examples in the Smithsonian database.

I agree that $50K would need more background than the seller is currently offering.

The vendor says that the helmet is made by a different company with a display number inside the helmet. There are no serial numbers that he can find but says that B.F. Goodrich and 9D are engraved on the bottom of the boots.

To identify it properly as either a test item (a Phase 1 suit) or the genuine McCoy one needs a serial number. So, inclined to agree with Matt.

WECT (Wilmington, NC): Official NASA spacesuit on Ebay
An official NASA spacesuit dating back to the late 1950's landed in Wilmington, to be auction off online through Ebay.

The spacesuit was made in 1959 for the Mercury Space Program, and was the first suit to be worn by a NASA astronaut.

The helmet, boots, gloves, and rest of the suit is being sold on Ebay for a starting price of $50,000.

Calvin Barnes is the owner of the Mail Room and is selling the suit for the anonymous owner.

Congratulatins to the successful bidder on the suit. I think you have a great item that we would all be proud to have in our collections. Nice one!
