What do you think of this Alan Shepard. I know there is a rule to identify possible secretarials. Any idea on this one please authenticity and value? |

100% authentic. Not even a shadow of a doubt as far as I'm concerned.Value is perhaps $150-250. Lately it seems those personalized WSS lithos are selling for $150-200. But someone named "Peter" might be willing to pay a little more. |

A-OK. Check out Shepard secretarials in Edge of Darkness' Astronaut Autopen Guide section. |

While we are on the subject, does this appear to be an authentic Shepard signature? Thanks. |

How did you obtain the book with the signature in it? It certainly isn't a known secretarial pattern, however, not good at all in my opinion. Everything about it is wrong; the size of it, overall letter-flow structure, and especially the "S" and "r" formations. |

I agree with Ken. Learning its source should be of interest. |

I have one (maybe two?) that are autographed as well. They were readily available for purchase when the book was first released. Maybe direct from the publisher? I remember mine did not cost more than a couple bucks more than the list price. If I can find a scan I will post it.

The question is not where did someone find a signed copy of the book, since Shepard signed plenty, it's where this specific copy was found. The signatures in his books are frequently rushed and a bit scrappy looking but this example looks like it was drawn out very slowly and, as Ken says, is very large. It would be interesting to know the story behind it. |

I bought the book from another collector, as part of a larger group of signed books. While the other books all appear to be legitimate, I've always been skeptical of this signature. Thanks for the feedback. |

What about eBay item 140322932076The signature might be printed, but it's a nice "Golf" memo item. |

Just remember that it's not a "real" photo either - it's a well-known paste-up job meant to illustrate the event. It's a shame that many hoaxers claim this poorly-executed composite photo to be 'proof' about their theories. |

I have one of these and so does a friend. All three (I include the one on Ebay here) have slightly different signatures in slightly different places and mine is definitely "signed" by someone not printed.Who might have signed them? |

If I recall, Shepard did honor a couple of business requests like this during the early 1990s in which all of the proceeds he made from such signings went to his favorite foundations; M7F/ASF, and USSCF.The signatures are certainly genuine in every aspect, but the photos on them are paste-up reprints (not a real lunar surface image as pointed out from a prior post here) and the Apollo 14 mission patches are later reproductions. |
