I have a couple of shuttle era crew signed lithos (STS-65 and STS-66) that I would appreciate opinions on:

and

I'm pretty good at spotting autopens from the Mercury through Apollo years, but I really don't know if the bulk of the signatures on these are real or machine generated. The Bob Cabana signature on the STS-65 litho looks good and I think all of the STS-66 ones are real. Any opinions from experts would be appreciated.

I am pretty sure STS-65 is an autopen and not sure on the STS-66. To be 100% certain, we would need a closeup photo or scan of a few of the signatures on the items. What gives STS-65 away is that Cabana 'signed' it twice. The incription is legit, the others not so much.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. Here's a closeup of the STS-66 signatures.

I suspected that all of the STS-65 signatures (other than the inscribed Cabana) were autopens. But as I said, it seems much harder to say for sure which signatures are autopens on Shuttle era items.

STS-66 looks good to me. They don't match any of the styles of autopens for those astronauts that I have seen. Also, they don't have any autopen traits that I can spot.

My verdict: Looks good!

My suggestion: We need more opinions to back me up!!

I hope this helps and thanks for posting the closeups. Nice item.
