I’m looking for a cover cancelled on May 13, 1960 for the unsuccessful launch of the Echo 1 satellite but haven’t found one. Are there covers cancelled on this date? |

Boy, I haven't seen one! We did a Space Cover of the Week on Echo and failed to flush out a copy of a May 13, 1960 cover.McMahan lists a price for one in his catalog, meaning that he actually saw one of these covers back in the 1970's, so there must be at least one out there. |

I've been looking for one for 3+ years. I haven't yet seen a single one. If they exist they are extremely scarce. |

Here's one on eBay and another, and another on Bonanza. Then you may want to check all these other versions on the Space Cover Store. |

You had me quite excited for a second or two...Thank you, but you have misunderstood the requirement. The covers you are referencing are for the launch of the satellite Echo 1 on the 12th August 1960, of which there are many. The desired cover that this thread is about is for the launch on the 13th May 1960 for a satellite that would have been named Echo 1 if it had achieved orbit. It failed to do so because of a malfunction in the second stage of the Thor-Delta rocket. Confusion can arise due to the naming convention used in that era: Echo-(1), and Echo-1. |
