EDIT: SOLD

Neil Armstrong signed only one individual limited-edition space-related print in the decades after Apollo 11: a 19"x29" lithograph of him suiting up for launch. On the morning of July 16, 1969 artist Paul Calle was able to witness the preparations, and sketched this image. 1,000 prints were made and signed in 1976 as a fundraiser for the new National Air and Space Museum.

This large, superbly printed lithograph, boldly signed in dark pencil by Armstrong, is the gold standard as an addition to any space collection.

I am offering for sale print no. 416 of the 1,000. Here is a close-up of the signature. It not only comes with the museum's paper describing the print (often separated and lost); it is still in the 1976 presentation portfolio, which is quite rare. It is in excellent condition - clean and bright, with just a slight bump at the top left corner, far away from the image and hidden when framed.

The most recent sale of one at RR Auction was last year, for $5,120.

Others have also sold at Heritage for over $5,000 and for over $4,000.

However, they usually sell for between $3,000 and $3,500. Here is the most recent Heritage sale, for $3,250.

This one (again, complete with the descriptive paper and museum portfolio) is [SOLD]$2900, plus another $40 for shipping. You could pay in two monthly installments if you like.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

When I visited the National Air and Space Museum around 1982 after arriving at Andrews AFB, these were $500. I regret not buying one, but that was a lot of money back then and even now.

I hope to be the care taker of one of these some day soon.

From memory, when these first went on sale the NASM was asking $100 a pop.
