On this day in 2013, my friend Blake Dumesnil unveiled a beautiful patch to mark a unusual crew complement. He wrote: "This is the 'official unofficial' patch for ISS Expedition 37.5!" It featured the Olympic Torch headed to the winter games In Sochi, Russia.A similar occurrence happened in the fall of last year. From Sept. 25 to Oct. 3, 2019, once again there were nine crew members on board the International Space Station. On March 14, 2019, the Soyuz MS-12 spacecraft carried Aleksey Ovchinin, Nick Hague and Christina Koch. They were joined by Aleksandr Skvortsov, Luca Parmitano and Andrew Morgan, who arrived on Soyuz MS-13 on July 20, 2019. They were then joined by Oleg Skripochka, Jessica Meir and Hazza Al Mansouri who launched on Sept. 25, 2019 on board Soyuz MS-15. I thought this event should also be commemorated with a patch. While Blake's patch was "officially unofficial" because he collaborated with the crew, this one is definitely "unofficially unofficial." I did not work with the crew members to create this, but did gift each of them with a patch in appreciation of their service. I have 75 patches available for sale. They will only be offered by me. They are $12 each, which includes first class mail. If you choose Priority Mail or you live overseas postage is extra. I accept checks or money orders, PayPal or credit card. This will be a one time, very limited edition. |

Anyone know if a design was made for an ISS 44.5 crew patch? That was also a brief nine crew member period aboard the station. Thank you. |
