Selling Owen Garriott's Space Shuttle Launch-Entry Coveralls. This is the suit worn during launch and landing on the early Space Shuttle missions. This suit is believed to be the flown suit worn on the mission. I have talked with Bill Avery, former ILC Dover Historian, and the records on these suits have been lost but this suit with shown wear and downgrade in flight status is consistent with the flown flight suit much more then the training suit. There is no documentation of flown status but the training suits had substantial wear and this suit is in nearly new condition. According to Bill Avery most astronauts on the early missions received two sets of Launch-Entry Coveralls. One for training and one for flight. The early coveralls were made to exact size for the astronaut wearing them and later suits were generic sizes and shared among several astronauts. I am asking $10,000 and includes a signed picture of Owen Garriott wearing his Launch Entry Coveralls on orbit during the STS-9 mission. |

I was told that the red hashmarks on the label indicated rejected articles deemed "not for flight use." |

The hash marks do mean that, but they were also used to downgrade flight equipment to Class III (training/education), which is/was a common occurrence with flight garments and spacesuit components. |
