On Oct. 28, 2003 the Astronauts Memorial Space Mirror monument was rededicated in honor of the Columbia STS-107 crew. Dr. Jon Clark, who lost his wife in that tragic accident, said in part: "we have to decide if we are going to be a space faring or space fearing people for these surely will not be the last names added to this monument."On Oct. 31, 2014, the VSS Enterprise, a SpaceShipTwo experimental spaceflight test vehicle operated by Virgin Galactic, suffered a catastrophic in-flight breakup during a test flight and crashed in the Mojave Desert near Cantil, California. Co-pilot Michael Alsbury was killed and pilot Peter Siebold was seriously injured. On July 24, 2019, the Board of Directors of the Astronauts Memorial Foundation voted to add Alsbury's name to the Space Mirror Memorial. This has been done and will be unveiled in a special re-dedication ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020. This honor necessitated an update to my FINAL FLIGHT 12-inch Commemorative patch. Besides just adding his name, I wanted to update the look of the design as well. Earth is shown at night with city lights sparkling below and stars above. Over the ocean the Astronaut Symbol points the way forward, towards dawn of a new day and beyond Earth to the stars. The motto has been changed: NON EST AD ASTRA MOLLIS E TERRIS VIA "There is no easy way from Earth to the Stars." I am accepting prepaid orders between today and Feb. 15, 2020. The patch order will be placed then and deliveries will be made in March. After Feb. 15th the price of the patch will increase to $50 each. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. |

I want to thank those who have ordered the patch. But I need to extend the offer a bit longer so I can at least break even. (Maybe I need to follow Liem's example and use Kickstarter next time.)I'm extending the sale price until March 15th. The edition will be limited to no more than 250 for the lifetime of this version. I appreciate your feedback. |

Thanks to everyone who ordered them. I wish they could be less expensive but it's a "Catch-22." If interest was there I could order way more but since it's not, the cost goes up, which decreases interest. With my age and health history, I don't go to the PO as often during this pandemic. So please forgive my slower than normal response time. Stay safe and well. |
