For sale, Alan Bean's art print "Heavenly Reflections," signed by both Bean and Charles (Pete) Conrad. Issued in 1997, this limited edition 24-by-13.625-inch print is numbered 400 of 850.

As Bean described this piece:

I have painted Pete Conrad and myself 239,000 miles from Earth during the Apollo 12 mission, standing on the Ocean of Storms, looking homeward.

Pete and I had come a long way together. He is the best astronaut I have ever known. As we looked up, the sky was a deep shiny black. As I touched Pete's shoulder I thought, can all the people we know or have seen or heard about actually be up on that tiny blue and white marble? It was a wondrous moment.

Ships rolled, with its original Greenwich Workshop packaging. Offered at cost at $325 plus shipping.

That is a really neat Alan Bean print. Why not make it a Christmas present for you or your wife?

I once complimented Alan that this was one of his best paintings. You can see a lot of emotion just from the positions of the gloves hands, even though you can’t see their faces behind the gold visors. I own a copy with a great personal inscription on it.

With the quality of the art, and the perfect signatures of two greats, I never understood why these didn’t sell out immediately.

I agree, Alan Bean's art, even the prints, are not appreciated for the quality and content. I collect his prints and have always been impressed by the depth and feeling he is able to portray.

Robert, if you still have this next month after I recover from Christmas I will certainly purchase it, but I can not buy gifts for myself right now I am taking care of others.

Indeed, the quality of Capt. Bean's paintings is quite impressive.

On this particular print "Heavenly Reflections," if you contemplate the difficulty of painting variations of light throughout folds and wrinkles on the spacesuits and the incredible challenge of getting the reflection on the gold visor just right (not once but twice), it is evident that there is an extremely high level of talent and care demonstrated.

This was the very first space art purchased from Novaspace. Still one of my favorites. Very affordable and impressive.

All times are CT (US)
