I have been a fan of Stephen Baxter's novel Voyage for quite some time. For the last two years, I have been building models and creating photos and documents that chronicles the mission of Ares to Mars in 1985 and 86 in his alternate history. With the help of Tim Gagnon and Bill Coukoulis Jr., I have come up with a patch based on the description in the book.

I have a few available, if anyone is interested for $6 shipped in US. Email me at ronpur@yahoo.com.

Shades of STS-2/Columbia! I'm sure Gen. Engle and Adm. Truly would be pleased.

That is deliberate because the description in the book talked of an eagle and it's wing turning into a flag. STS-2 matched that description and I wanted some of this timeline to show up in the alternate history.

The red star represents Mars, with the blue star Venus, which the ship flew around. The three stars on the flag represent three astronauts lost in an accident in the book. And of course, the Ares cluster as seen at TMI.

The first group of patches mailed went out on Saturday. I hope everyone that ordered them likes them.

I still have a few of these available, if anyone is interested. I recently saw on one eBay for $16.90, but they are still cheaper with me!

All times are CT (US)
