Two Wernher von Braun items for sale: - A single page typed signed letter (8" x 5.5") on George C Marshall Space Flight Center headed paper dated May 29, 1969. Letter in response to a request for a signed photo and earthrise photo. Yellowed from age and some surface toning with a tiny tear on right handside which I had matted out and fixing tape on rear. Overall nice condition with a bold signature in black pen. Asking $295.
- A 5.5" x 4" b&w photo of von Braun in his office at Marshall Flight Centre with a display of rocket models. Photo in very good condition with a tiny indentation by von Braun's left hand which is almost un-noticeable unless close up and a faint diagonal line on the bottom right corner in the white border and fixing tape on rear.
Purple text on rear reads "Dr Wernher von Braun, Director, Marshall space Flight Center, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Huntsville, Alabama." Stunning bold signature in blue pen. Asking $425. Shipping from UK dependent on method and location. PayPal accepted. |

I hate to say it, but I suspect the signature in the photo has been carefully traced over. You can see remnants of black ink to the left side of the W, and is especially evident in the "raun." At some point, it appears someone went over a faded signature. |

Steve, many thanks as always for your valued input. I have built my collection always buying from trusted, experienced and respected sources. I purchased this around 6-7 years ago from one such source so this is obviously a major disappointment. I guess I will just have to put this down on the learning curve of collecting. I'm assuming there is little or no value in this item? |

If it was a respected and reputable source, it may be worth a try to go back to them. Everyone makes honest mistakes and they may be willing to make it right.Sorry! | |
