Curt Newport, who led the successful expedition to recover the Liberty Bell 7 Mercury spacecraft from the bottom of the ocean, was in San Diego this week and very kindly signed copies of Into That Silent Sea for both the San Diego Air & Space Museum and the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center's store. Sales at both institutions help with their space-related, non-profit missions. Newport has not only signed the books (already signed by both authors), he has also added "LB7 recovery."Newport was interviewed for the book, which discusses Gus Grissom's suborbital spaceflight, the loss of the spacecraft and the subsequent recovery. Copies via the Fleet can be ordered using the web link above. They accept international orders. For the Air & Space Museum, please call Ron in the museum store at (619) 234 8291 ext. 134, or E-mail him at: sdasmstore (at) eventnetwork (dot) us Thank you! | |
