A while back I put together my own composite Schirra WSS photo as a way of filling a gap. It's not perfect but does look fairly convincing and I had the only copy signed and personalized to me at the last UACC show. More recently I had a go at an Eisele WSS, which was actually much easier. Sadly of course it's not possible to get this signed although I did make an 'Autopenned' version as an experiment. I was just wondering if there would be any interest from people in buying prints of either of these WSS photos? I could probably print and ship them for about $15 a piece ($13 for Europe), with a second photo included for an extra $7.50. I'm not looking to take orders, just to get an idea if anyone is interested.[This message has been edited by spaced out (edited March 15, 2006).] |

Nice Job !A question: How was this done in other words which portraits did You use for this ? I have 55 different WSS portraits of Apollo / Skylab / ASTP astronauts and none of those origianl NASA portraits fit the body used in Your designs ? Philip, Schirra is taken in his entirety (including the suit) from an Apollo 7 crew portrait. It's not his head stuck on someone else's body. The only part that was missing was his right elbow which I had to merge in from someone else's WSS shot. The background came from another portrait entirely, so did the flag, and so did the globe. |

Ed Hengeveld made paintings of drawings of such a Schirra portrait... Are these photos now available to collectSpace-ers ? |

I don't want to put a spoke in Chris's wheels here, but yes: Jerome made these paintings available as prints. See: http://apollomissionphotos.com/index_art_ed.html Ed |

For the moment I haven't decide whether to produce prints of these images or not. If you are interested just email me and I'll add your name to my list. |
