To take away some of the torture: I have never seen an Apollo-11 gag photo and I doubt if one exists. Somehow that crew doesn't seem like the type for it...

Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong, but from my talk with Paul Weitz earlier this year at the Air & Space Show in Titusville the official STS-6 crew photo, Challenger's maiden flight, was indeed a photo of the crew in the 'F Troop' garb. Weitz mentioned there was another 'F Troop' photo taken, which I assume is the one posted here and also that NASA was not pleased with either photo!. The one I bought at Weitz's table is a 10 X 8 and not the different 8 X 10 posted above.
Weitz signed the photo for me and after the show I went to KSC. I did a little homework beforehand and knew that Don Peterson was appearing at the Astronaut Encounter there. When I arrived he was actually on stage! I waited until everyone was done meeting him and told him that I'd been at the show in Titusville earlier. Peterson told me he would have liked to have been there but he had his schedule at KSC already planned.
He had a good laugh when I showed him the 'F Troop' photo and then signed it for me...
