Hello all, A few days ago I announced that Geraths Design was nearing release on a new product for the space collector; a Lunar surface display base especially designed for the superb 1/6th scale Dragon astronaut figure.
Here it is!
This base comes in two styles, large and small. The Lunar surface section on the two bases are identical, it is only the wood base that changes. The larger version of the base could be fitted with a plaque, mission patch, even a signature. I left the space blank so that the collector can put whatever they see fit in this space. If there is something you would like added, please contact me with your idea and I am sure it can be done.
This base is made of a beautiful semi-gloss lacquered hardwood with a routered edge to allow the collector to fit it with an acrylic case if they wish. You can have your local casemaker build one for you. Cases can also be purchased through me if you wish as there is a local company that can produce them for my studio. Contact me for quote.
The lunar surface was hand sculpted by me and was designed especially for the Dragon "Buck" or "Buzz" Apollo astronaut figure. It is cast in a durable resin and hand painted. (Needless to say, the figure shown in the photos is for illustration purposes only and is NOT included.)
The base is designed to give the figure a sturdy and realistic foot position. I based the stance on several photos of astronauts during Lunar EVA. Note that the stance is wide and the figure somewhat stooped, just like the real deal. Because of the weight of the pack, the astronauts found it easier to move about the surface at a slight forward tilt. This position can be clearly seen in any photo from the Moon and is especially noticeable in film footage shot on the Lunar surface. I designed the foot prints on the base in such a way to allow the figure to have that same slight stoop but remain incredibly stable.
This is a quality base for your quality figure. Why stand this magnificent collectable on anything other than the surface it was intended to be on? This Lunar surface base is just the thing you need to properly display your figure.
