On Tuesday (Feb. 11), the United Nations recognized the 10th International Day of Women and Girls in Science with a panel discussion featuring women astronauts.
An astronaut-led panel to highlight the contributions of women and girls in science, and the importance of ensuring that they are safe from gender-based violence and gender discrimination.
Among the speakers were Cady Coleman (STS-73, STS-93, Soyuz TMA-20, ISS 26/27), Jeanette Epps (SpaceX Crew-8, ISS 70/71), Amelie Schoenenwald (ESA reserve astronaut candidate) and Sian Proctor (Inspiration4), as well as actor Terry Crews and Bill Nye, director of The Planetary Society.

Other astronauts were scheduled to attend included: Sirisha Bandla (VSS Unity 22), Lina Borozdina (Galactic-06), Nicolina Elrick (Blue Origin NS-26), Jamila Gilbert (Unity 25), Sharon Hagle (Blue Origin NS-20, Blue Origin NS-28), Karsen Kitchen (Blue Origin NS-26), Dottie Metcalf-Lindenburger (STS-131), Audrey Powers (Blue Origin NS-18) and Keisha Schahaff (Galactic-02).

From Shawna Pandaya, who is slated to fly with Virgin Galactic, via Instagram:
Remember those movies growing up where you saw an array of women space explorers leading the way? This is it. It's here in 2025. And no matter who's trying to cover it up, tear it down, hide it away... it's already here. And it's not going away.
