Today was my talk at this symposium. I think it went over well, given the feedback from the other attendees.

I closed out my presentation with two 25th anniversary reveals: first, the new animated collectSPACE logo created by Dave Ginsberg for our upcoming video projects. Stay tuned for more details.

And second, our new limited edition collectSPACE 25th anniversary M&Ms. These came with a challenge — do you partake in them as a sweet treat or preserve them as a collectible? Coming soon: details on how to get your own pack.

My thanks to Kevin McGinnis (Kevmac) for these photos from my talk!

Looks like it was a very interesting symposium, and a fine presentation of yours, Robert.

I am guessing the last two photos represent the largest and smallest, respectively, that the cS logo has ever appeared.

As for your challenge question … I’m trying to figure out how to squish one of those M&Ms into my art portfolio.

For those unable to attend the symposium (including myself), the National Parks Service's National Center for Preservation Technology and Training has posted video recordings of all lectures from the event.

I recommend starting with Robert's excellent discussion of "Five Lessons Learned From 25 Years of collectSPACE."

Great presentation Robert. I got the quiz all wrong as I had it medallion, fabric then coverall. My thought was that the medallion crossed other collection groups and thus went the highest, then the Flyer due to it being double historic and then the coveralls (but thought the price was low and maybe a 1990's era price). I was way off as can be the case with any auctioned item.

The topic of red letter photos still amazes me, I wonder what the market will hold in 15-20 years?

Very nice presentation.

I guessed the right price for the fabric, but I mixed up the prices of the jacket and the medallion.

Thanks guys! Glad you enjoyed the talk.

The way in which the market values artifacts versus the items' respective roles in history continues to be a puzzle. But then again, I know there are pieces in my own collection that I value far beyond their historical value because of what they represent to me and my own particular interests.
