Prof Cox will be at the event first and foremost as a fan of the space program and Capt Lovell inparticular. He is not contracted to appear or sign autographs. Conducting the Q&A is a kindness. As such there are no plans for any formal signing. |

Please be advised the dinner and lecture tickets for Capt Lovell in October have now SOLD OUT!!!There are a small number who have placed orders but have yet to send payment; Ken will contact those in the coming days and a few lecture tickets may become available as a consequence. I will update members accordingly. |

I'm glad I made the 'leap of faith' to obtain a ticket to this event, although I appreciate not everyone would have been willing to do that. Really looking forward to both events this year - well done Space Lectures! |

A message from Ken; might apply to a cS member. Got a bank statement today. Someone sent £161 on the 9th with the ref: N & PMR and Mrs SJ. No idea who they are! Why can't they give something easily recognisable? Also got £320 - Advice Confirms - no idea! Since Saturday 7th it has been known that tickets for the dinner AND the lecture were sold out. Any bacs payments in the pipeline should include the sender's names.Unless these folks make themselves known they may well turn up at the dinner and lecture only to be turned away and their monies returned. There will be discreet security personnel at both events... should the need arise. |

Such has been the demand for tickets for the visit of Capt. Lovell to Pontefract in October, that Ken is looking in to the possibility of a second public lecture. In an e-mail I received this evening Ken asked... "Can you make it known that JL is prepared to do another talk on Sunday Nov. 1st. if enough people are interested? Can anyone interested let me have names, I do not want payment yet until I know how many." Ken's contact details can be found at the beginning of this thread. So there you have it. If you are one of those disappointed at missing out on a lecture ticket to see Capt Lovell there may well be a second bite of the cherry. Please be advised that Prof Brian Cox will not be hosting a second Q&A.

For the second James Lovell lecture to be a viable option I think Ken would need to sell 166+ tickets. To date 100 people have expressed an interest in attending a second lecture. Please, DO NOT send Ken any payments for a possible second Lovell lecture at this time but if interested please DO mail Ken and confirm your interest. Thanks guys. |

Thanks for the update Rick. I have already registered my interest in the possible Sunday lecture. I wondered if the 'SOLD OUT' banner across the JL poster on twitter might be dissuading people from looking further. I'm sure the majority of people attending the Eileen Collins event would jump at the chance to meet such a legendary astronaut and would register an interest in the remainder of seats on the night, especially if they are not tweeters or habitual website checkers. |

I suspect we are still many months off the point when Ken will have to decide whether or not a second Lovell lecture is a viable option. And there are many opportunities between now and then to promote the possibility.I certainly hope the second lecture comes off. |

Ken has started to mail out Lovell tickets for October. There is still no news yet on whether or not there will be a second lecture on the Sunday. In excess of 100 people have registered an interest in the second lecture and inevitably more will follow both at the Collins event in April and during the interim. There is nothing to stop folk already booked for the first lecture... registering their interest in attending the second. I expect the photo shoot guys will be there and the second lecture would provide a second autograph opportunity. I expect to be there. |

Numbers who have registered interest with Ken Willoughby in a possible second James Lovell lecture on Sunday November 1st now stand in excess of 120; it is looking VERY promising with plenty of time still to go.There is no reason, just because people may have booked tickets for the Saturday lecture, that they can't register interest in the second.

Ken has asked that anybody thinking of attending a second Lovell lecture on Sunday November 1st, and who has yet to mail Ken with this intention, that they please do so as soon as possible. While October may be a long way off, Ken is conscious that Lovell is a very popluar man and in demand. It is only fair that if we are to proceed with a second lecture we should let Lovell and his agent know as soon as possible. But for that to happen Ken must have the numbers of people committed to coming (166+) to take Sunday to the next level. |

143 people have now registered their intent to attend a second Lovell lecture on Sunday November 1st, should it go ahead.Ken is currently waiting to hear whether a contingent of RAF pilots and personnel "in multiples of 10" will be attending. If so, we should be good to go to the next level. If other members are considering the second lecture please e-mail Ken as soon as possible. I'll keep you posted. |

Please do not send payments yet for the second Lovell lecture. While we have now received 175 firm orders for lecture tickets for Sunday, Nov. 1 that number covers the deposit. The next level is 250 tickets in total to cover entirely the cost of the second day. With a large number of RAF guys anticipated it is looking good. |

Demand to meet Capt. Lovell in Pontefract this October has been HUGE. Space Lectures is delighted to confirm that there will now be a second James Lovell public lecture on Sunday, Nov. 1.The venue and the trappings are the same. Timings are slightly different; Ken is conscious that people travelling a distance, with work the next day, will not want to get home late. To that end, the schedule for Sunday only will be as follows; - 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. - Photo Shoot
- 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. - Lecture
- 1:15 - 3:00 p.m. - Autograph Signing
We are unable at this time to confirm the duration of any Q&A or who will host it. More on that as I get it.Please NOW send payment for tickets, plus an extra £1 for postage (or a self-addressed envelope).Cheques to Space Lectures. BACS: A/C: 31402501, S/C: 40-37-04. Ref: Your name and JL2! |

This is indeed a huge achievement by Ken and Space Lectures, and they should feel justly proud. I hate to think just how many times Lovell will have signed his name by the time Sunday draws to a close. I hope he has a physio with him. |

We appreciate the offer Nigel. We have our "resident" Q&A man on standby. I'm not entirely sure whether Professor Brian Cox will be available for the second Q&A. The invitation has been made but I'm guessing he is otherwise occupied with Stargazing Live at the moment.Consider yourself "on the subs bench!" |

Impressionist and astronomy fan Jon Culshaw as Professor Brian Cox or Sir Patrick Moore would be a fun Q&A host but with two Lovell lectures and the real Prof Cox our cup already runneth over! |

Update from Ken regarding the Lovell event. All tickets for the Eileen Collins and James Lovell events have been posted to those who supplied a stamped addressed envelope or £1 extra if paid by BACS. Those who didn't can pick them up on the day. It might be an idea to do Ken the courtesy of letting him know tickets are being collected in person on the day if that is your intention. |

Paid, received ticket today and very pleased to be on row C! Rick, I was wondering why the photoshoot is only 45 minutes on the Sunday but 1 hour, 45 minutes on the Saturday? Will there be less people attending on Sunday? |

Message from Ken regarding a payment for a ticket for the Sunday Lovell lecture: Someone called Elke Bailey has paid £81 by BACS but I don't have an address for her/him nor an e-mail. Can you spread the word for them to let me have one? There is also someone called C.E. Lambert and I still haven't heard from A. Clewes, either. Please, when ordering tickets or making payments be sure to include e-mail contact details.Ironman, regarding the Lovell photoshoot on Sunday, the timings I think are a bit "fluid." For the Fred Haise lecture people started arriving two hours before we were officially open. On top of which we are not expecting a full house for the second Lovell lecture. Currently we have just over half so naturally the photoshoot will be proportionately shorter. That said, if we continue to push on through 300 and more for Sunday I am sure we can "tweak" the timings and I'll be sure to notify folks on collectSPACE accordingly. The timings in general for the Sunday are significantly earlier than the Saturday to allow people time to get home early in advance of work the next day so there is plenty of slack to play with. Rest assured, anybody wanting a photo with Capt. Lovell will get one. If in doubt get there early. |

"Still 84 people who committed to JL2 not paid yet!"Seats will be allocated with payment, not promise. The sooner payments are made the nearer the front people will be seated. First come first served so please... settle up for tickets asap. If JL2 sells out tickets ordered but NOT paid for will be sold. You can't bank a promise. Demand is HUGE! Thanks in advance. |

Since confirming the second Lovell lecture was GO, Ken has... on four or more occasions... mailed some who registered ticket interest requesting payment, but to no avail. He will now no longer mail the 80 or so outstanding. Reserved tickets are now back in the mix and will be allocated only upon receipt of payment. This applies to the second Lovell lecture only. The first is fully SOLD OUT and the tickets have already been mailed out. Demand has been huge and the event is now over three days so Ken must press on. |

The Eileen Collins event has (sadly) passed and Capt. James Lovell is now #1 on the Space Lectures runway.Such was the success of the backdrop competition for Eileen's event we would like to do the same for October. There are still 5 months to go so there is plenty of time to get those designs in. Rather than mail them directly to me I think it only fair that any/all designs should be posted here for all to see and comment on. The winning design will be selected from those posted on this thread. Considerations should include Capt. Lovell's mission patches and their placement, and how the subjects will be "framed" by detail in the background. I think it safe to say a predominantly light ground works best; Eileen's backdrop took a black fine point Sharpie really well. This forum is blessed with some very talented guys and I am really looking forward to seeing the fruits of their efforts. The winner (all being well) will receive a bespoke signed portrait of Capt. Lovell posed in front of their design...with the compliments of Space Lectures. |

I had already created this backdrop, so thought I'd at least post it, even though it has a mostly dark background. Hard to find suitable images with a light background that are significant to Jim Lovell's missions, but still looking at this time. First one: Variation of the first one: |
