For those of you who follow @space_lectures on twitter astronaut Richard Garriot retweeted the Alan Bean event and also left a message as follows: Alan Bean sent me my favorite pre-flight msg — "It's important communicators like you fly, vs only test pilots & scientists It's good to have his support! |

I have just spoken to Ken and he has informed me that the dinner tickets have almost gone. That is after increasing the table numbers from previous events. If you are deliberating on coming to the dinner you need to act now. |

I have read that the artist Forest "Frosty" Myers claims that in one of Intrepid's landing legs there is an iridium-plated ceramic wafer. On this is work etched by Andy Warhol, David Novron, Claus Oldenburg, John Chamberlain and himself. The chip is apparently very small and called Moon Museum.Unfortunately I cannot attend this event but does anyone know if this is true or would be willing to ask the question in Pontefract? |

See: Interplanetary art smuggler sought by PBS detectives for moon mystery questioning (and the related discussion topic). To try to learn the identity of the man who smuggled the first art to the Moon, Wright reached out to Apollo 12 lunar module pilot Alan Bean, who after returning from the Moon chose to become an artist himself."This is news to me," says the astronaut on the show. "I am not aware of this chip going with us." |

Latest from Ken regarding the dinner with Alan Bean. Just 17 tickets remain for the dinner.Typically, as we get closer to the event ticket sales quicken so don't get caught out. |

Please be advised the Alan Bean event in Pontefract in October is..."GO"!Around 10 tickets remain for the dinner and tickets for the lecture are going fast. Anybody currently sitting on the fence had better climb down, "switch SCE to AUX"... and write that cheque asap. See you all in October. |

Only 5 tickets remain for the dinner. Ken has already put on more dinner places for Al Bean than any of his previous guests and it is my understanding the venue will be at capacity so delay... and you will miss out. |

Ken has informed me that tickets for the Alan Bean event will be mailed out later this week.Last I heard just three tickets remained for the dinner but Ken has had several enquiries for those; first to send the cheque gets them. The 28 people who did not include a self-addressed envelope can collect their tickets at the door. Alan Bean has selected the menu for the meal at Wentbridge.... - Roast Plum Tomato Soup with Red Pepper Bruschetta.
- Slow Braised Shoulder of Local Pork with
- Wild Mushroom and Herb Crumble, caramelised Apples and Scrumpy Cider Sauce.
- A Selection of Seasonal Vegetables and Potatoes.
- Seasonal Berry Pavlova with Mango and Passion Fruit Sorbet.
- Fairtrade Organic Coffee with Wentbridge House Chocolates.
Yummy! (Any vegetarian members please show your hand and I will pass the details on to Ken.) |

Paul, I'll ask Ken to provide you with a straw! But then again, I thought you pilot chaps were used to slopping your food around all the while flying loop the loops with one hand on the stick and the other on a flight attendant? |

That's how I thought it was going to be but the reality is so different... a B-777 cannot do a loop. Barrel roll yes, loop, no. |

Hi Alex, apparently Nick and Bryar of Spaceboosters are hoping to get some Helen Keen photos produced. If between the three of you you can sort me out an autograph that would be great! No worries if it's a problem.

Apparently got the "2nd Last" room at the Wentbridge (Well, they would say that, eh). Got my menu sorted just hoping my Al Bean books come over from the US before the 11th Oct, and am all set. Anybody else staying at the Wentbridge? |

Just a reminder that those still waiting to receive their Bean tickets may well be the few that failed to include a self-addressed envelope. Those thickets can be collected on the door; please bring some supporting ID.Now that the work on the new school lecture theatre has been finished Ken has managed to secure some more seats for the public lecture. Contrary to a previous announcement and given the proximity of the show, the extra tickets WILL be available at the door on the night. But the only way to guarantee a ticket is to send Ken payment as soon as possible; ticket sales have a habit of picking up pace the closer we get to the event. |

Can I claim the prize of being able to ask the first question of Al Bean for spotting the deliberate mistake on the tickets? The ticket says Saturday 10th October when, in fact, the Saturday is the 12th. |

That is no mistake Eddie; it is on only your ticket. Be sure and be there on the 10th. |

Now I'm really confused Rick. Is the lecture on Thursday 10th October or Saturday 12th October? On edit - the poster says Saturday 12th, so the ticket does contain a mistake, does it not? Therefore, still claim the prize. |
