Yee-hah! Rick, just for clarity: is the dinner cheque payable to Ken personally or to "APOLLO 13"? I presume a second SAE is not required? |

Correct Brammers; the cheques for the meal should be made out to Ken Willoughby and if a SAE has already been sent for tickets a second is NOT required.Just waiting for confirmation from Ken about the venue for the meal. |

You don't know the half of it! To reduce the cost of the meal, Rick has offered himself as the main course. He should go well with gravy, chips and mushy peas. |

Well, there's plenty to go round. ![](http://www.collectspace.com/ubb/eek.gif) Ken is your main man. I just help him as best I can. In return Ken allows me access to his guests and the opportunity to photograph their visits which is reward enough. |

To help promote the Harrison Schmitt event further Ken now has a website with photos, contact details etc. http://space-lectures.com It is a work in progress; there is still plenty to come in the days and weeks ahead but it gives interested parties a flavour of Ken's work. |

Correction to the earlier post about the meal. Ken has changed venue. The meal will now be at King's Croft, Pontefract on Saturday October 20th, 11:30-14:30. Tickets=£60 (includes wine reception.) Photo with HSS before meal=£25 and will be signed afterwards. Only 100 seat available-first come. The updated venue is closer to Dr Schmitt's hotel and easier to get to. |

Here are examples of the kind of 8x10 photo guests to the meal can expect to see should they choose to purchase one. These scanned copies do not do justice to the originals which are very impressive "in the flesh". ![](http://www.collectspace.com/review/rickmulheirn/schmitt_samplephoto01.jpg) ![](http://www.collectspace.com/review/rickmulheirn/schmitt_samplephoto02.jpg)

What? You mean he's not staying with us at the Premier Inn? ![](http://www.collectspace.com/ubb/biggrin.gif) Great photos, by the way. |

Looks like I am not the only pleb staying at the Premier Inn. But on a positive note, they do have stables out back for Dave's horse and a spitoon in the bar! |

A spitoon in the bar? My word, they are getting civilised north of Watford. What's wrong with good, old fashioned sawdust? |

Update from Ken. Tickets for the meal selling particularly well. He expects to sell out soon.Still plenty of tickets for the evening talks. Still waiting to hear whether Jack will do photo shoots at the talks. I have suggested that if he does, he might consider signing such a photo as an alternative to three copies of his book. From a commercial standpoint such signed photos would hold little re-sale value, it would make the whole signing experience quicker and for some a signed photo would be preferable to a signed book. But at the end of the day, Ken can only offer what Dr. Schmitt is prepared to accommodate. |

I have seen several references to people staying at the "Premier Inn", but which one? There are two: Premier Inn Pontefract North is 2.5 miles from the centre of Pontefract, while Premier Inn Pontefract South is 3 miles from the town centre. Seems guaranteed to create confusion! |

Rick, I think that's the one next to the Xcape complex so you'll be okay for a bit of skiing or snowboarding if it takes your fancy! ![](http://www.collectspace.com/ubb/smile.gif) |

Mixed news regarding the Harrison Schmitt event in October. Thanks to Ken's persistance Dr Schmitt has kindly agreed to pose for professional photos before each of his evening talks. The photos will be similar to those illustrated above and will be £20 a piece. He will however still only sign his book "Return to the Moon"; up to a maximum of 3 signed books per person. He will still be posing for similar photos prior to the meal but I understand that he is now only prepared to sign his book after the meal and NOT the photos taken prior to eating. Sorry guys! ![](http://www.collectspace.com/ubb/frown.gif) For that reason Ken has lowered the price of those photos to £20 also. |

So can Ken put you down for five photos at £20 a pop James? For what it's worth, I think that is less than the guys at Autographica charge for an astronaut photo shoot and they don't have the "green screen" backgrounds. Assuming guests bring along a copy of his book £80 will get you a unique illustrated presentation (his first ever in the UK), a chance to meet the man and shake his hand, a personal 10x8 colour photo with him and an autograph. If my memory serves me right that is what he was charging per autograph at his private Novaspace signing five or six years ago! By comparison, how much did your average British collectSPACE member spend on petrol this week and ask yourself "Is such an evening worth a tank of gas"? |

I have only just found out about these events and cannot believe I have missed all these astronauts (I live in Newcastle, a couple of hours drive to Pontefract) and a cheque for £180 was in the post today. I am attending both talks and lunch and will have three photos if possible? This is an amazing opportunity I would not miss for anything! |

Good to have you on board Jim. I am sure you will enjoy yourself immensely. Fingers crossed this will not be Ken's last astronaut encounter. |

I have also applied for both talks and the dinner. I met Dr Schmitt almost ten years ago, when his views on lunar formation were a voice in the wilderness. Recent findings have opened up the whole debate, and I want the maximum opportunity to hear the views of the only professional geologist who actually made a field-trip to the Moon |

My only concern is that everyone does not turn up with three books. What a long signing session that would be! |

Hey James, if its astronauts your after (a whole bunch of Apollo ones) am off to the ASF show at Cape Canaveral Nov. 1-3 to have real quality time with these guys. I was there last November and had the time of my life. However nearer to home can't wait to finally meet up with Harrison Schmitt. |

If anybody is waiting to hear back from Ken regarding ticket orders please cut the guy a bit of slack.Ken went off radar this last week or so which I presumed was down to some kind of Easter break or vacation when in fact he suffered a mild heart attack. He is on the mend but would appreciate a quick and smooth succession of ticket orders rather than a stressful last minute rush before the June 1st deadline. Ken is a tad frustrated ticket sales are going the way of previous events; it is looking like there will yet again be a last minute rush. But such a rush will not guarantee the event. June 1st is the deadline; if Ken has not sold enough tickets by then the event will not go ahead. Thanks for your understanding guys. |
