Space Cover #459: Space places: Vernon

What is there in common between these two covers?.

Easy: city name is the same. Vernon.

With almost two million of cities in the world, how many probabilities exist to find the same name linked to the space?.

At first, there should be many. However, over the years, just this one I have found.

Vernon, NJ (USA) was one of the eight places where a tracking station for Westar satellites was located.

Date commemorates the launch of Westar B (2nd US domestic communication satellite for Western Union) launched from Cape Canaveral at top of Delta rocket.

Vernon, in the Eure department, Normandy region (France) is the test site for rocket motors from SNECMA (Société Nationale d’Études et de Construction de Moteurs par Avion), a company involved in motor constructions for aerospace industry.

Viking or Vulcain motors for different Ariane rockets are there tested prior to release at Kourou for mating.

Date commemorates motor tests for Ariane 3 rocket.
