Space Cover of the Week, Week 293 (December 5, 2014) Space Cover 293: SRB Nosecap Ejection System Sled TestsBetween March 2-10, 1978, a series of tests were run for the purpose of testing a solid rocket booster nosecap parachute system. These tests, held at the rocket sled facility at Sandia Labs in New Mexico, confirmed the nosecap would jettison and pull the parachutes out to slow the SRB. As we know this system worked flawlessly except for STS-4, which boosters sank after the parachutes malfunctioned.
These covers were serviced by Stan Henderson of 3-Muscateers. About 100 to 150 covers were serviced for each test. John Macco Space Unit #1457 |

John, great covers by Stan Henderson for early space shuttle booster nose cap ejection tests and Sandia Labs. Many thanks for presenting them here on SCOTW, they are very much appreciated! | |
