Space Cover 266: To the Stars Philatelic Exhibition

This week's Space Cover of the Week commemorates the third To-the-Stars Philatelic Exhibition opening on April 11, 1964. The exhibition was held at the Moscow Polytechnic Museum.

According to the postmark, the Moscow Collectors Club (MGOK) hosted this event. The exhibition was held April 11-29, 1964. Unlike previous To-the Star exhibitions, there was no closing day postmark.

Many covers similiar to the one above had a special opening day overprint added in the lower left of the envelope by the MGOK. The overprint reads: "To the Stars 3rd Thematic Exhibition of the MGOK, Moscow, Polytechnic Museum 11-29 April, 1964" in Russian. Catalog numbers for the cancels are Winick 984 and Pfau S-88.
