Space Cover #262: First To The Stars Philatelic Exhibit

This Space Cover of the Week commemorates the First To The Stars Philatelic exhibit, which ran April 5-23, 1962. The Moscow Collectors Club overprinted two prestamped envelopes for the event.

The top cover overprint reads "To The Stars! 1st Thematic Exhibition of the Moscow Collectors Club, Moscow, TsDSA, April 1962, where the abbreviation "TsDSA" is from the Russian words identifying the exhibition location as the Central Home to the Soviet Army.

The below cover's overprint reads "To the Stars!" Exhibition of the Moscow Collectors Club, Moscow, TsDSA, day of Closing."

The cancels were used at the Moscow I-157 post office and at the special postal booth set up near the exhibition area. Catalog numbers for the cancels is Winick 277 and 331 and Pfau S-49.
