SpaceFerris Member Posts: 61 From: Thornville, OH Registered: Mar 2015	posted 11-16-2024 12:01 PM I recently purchased (eBay 335468735597) what I think may be the cancelled STS-51D and later STS-51I mission patch that preceded STS-61B. A reference to this patch that is essentially STS-61B without the name tag with Walker and Neri added was referred to on spacepatches.nl under the Funny, Rare and Personal section. Interested in your thoughts.
Robert Pearlman Editor Posts: 53500 From: Houston, TX Registered: Nov 1999	posted 11-16-2024 12:52 PM This appears to be an A-B Emblem patch, but a more recent replica of the design. The labels on the back of the patches did not begin until 2010 and so could not be present on a patch made for a 1985 mission.
OV-105 Member Posts: 921 From: Ridgecrest, CA Registered: Sep 2000	posted 11-16-2024 11:16 PM I think that is a 61B 2nd that did not pass QC. The circle with the names is not even around the entire circle. Also the orbiter doesn’t look right either. You can find a lot of patches like that on eBay.
