Noticed an interesting design on the cover of a Gemini 7/6 report. I couldn't help but think of a possible early connection to the eventual Apollo 8 logo design.

As cited by Gene Dorr on his website, Jim Lovell takes credit for sketching out the Apollo 8 patch.
As Lovell also flew on Gemini 7, maybe he saw this report and later it subconsciously influenced his ideas for the Apollo 8 emblem. That said, it is easy to see how he could have also arrived at the design independently.

That's a really great find -- what publication did it appear in?
I can just imagine Lovell's brain working — combining that "trajectory" with the Apollo CM-shape from the original Apollo 8 patch (S68-53480):
(As an aside, I'm pretty sure MPAD stands for Mission Planning and Analysis Division; organizationally, MPAD was part of the Director of Flight Operations, so ADFO could be "Assistant Director of Flight Operations"; and the Flight Analysis Branch (FAB) was part of MPAD.)

It is from the cover of a work schedule report from the FAB (Flight Analysis Branch) for the Gemini 7/6 mission dating to December 1965 (eBay 284232940759).
