In 1985, Soviet cosmonauts Vladimir Dzhanibekov and Viktor Savinikh flew the Soyuz T-13 spacecraft to the ailing Salyut 7 space station. Radio contact with the orbital lab had been lost and the vehicle was tumbling, its interior frozen. This patch commemorates the successful mission which saved the station. Salyut is shown with its solar panels misaligned, the way it looked during the orbital rendezvous. The two cosmonaut figures, embroidered in gold thread, are based on a mural sculpture in the Gagarin Crew Training Center near Moscow. At the top of the patch, the station's docking target is shown; its red cross symbolising the emergency character of this mission. Thirteen stars symbolise the mission number; one of them is shaped like a snowflake, for the freezing conditions the crew encountered. A mountain range at the bottom of the design represents the Pamir mountains for the crew's callsign. The patch measures 110 mm and will be available from Skyforce Space Patches soon.
